It's really hard to describe my experience here, but here goes. The furniture throughout us dated but I can't decide if it's a good or bad thing as it certain gives the place a character of its own. It certainly is a welcome break from hotel chains. I was surprised the room had a single bed as most have a double, there is no temperature control in the room either. The hotel is right next to the station and good value too. I didn't have any noise complaints though there were written warnings if such. The breakfast is served in the rooftop, a beautiful room with views across the city and harbour, the hotel was quite empty perhaps to be expected on a Monday, they serve a big breakfast and the chef took the order, he was friendly and so was the receptionist, it had a small bnb feel. I will come back next time I'm in town for work.
Lovely place breakfast was cold the lady who did breakfast was rude
Me & my partner booked last minute & wasn't sure what to expect having read other reviews....The room was tidy. =Key Card access. It had: iron/ironing board - hairdryer - clothes hangers, drawer in wardrobe & chest of drawers - kettle facilities (though the cups we had to change cups as they were brown stained ) - tea - coffee - biscuits - mini shampoos & soap - clean towels .....On arriving, it was later than planned, as had to find somewhere to park (hotel Doesn't provide parking!) - around 10 p.m. ...had to phone the late number, she came & let us in. The reception is Not available full time - day or night - No bottled water in room or glasses - no breakfast (although included in price) as a member of staff thought the other member of staff had told the chef he was needed this weekend ... we went up to the restaurant bit to eat breakfast, but no one had bothered to tell us breakfast was off the menu (we ended up at Morrisons for this) ... no discount offered by the hotel. No Hot water! ...had a lovely cold shower & the weight of the water clinging to the poor shower curtains, resulted in the cheap plastic shower rail falling down & there was also hole in the bath panel! ....The hotel is located in a noisy area - in the early hours of the morning, when it's kicking out time at the pubs & clubs - so that is what you will hear for majority of your night stay. Mattress is 2 single ones pushed together on a double base, could feel the springs & could feel the springs (ended up with bad back) The room was quite modern in comparison to the rest of the building.Very poorly managed hotel.
This hotel needs refurbished as very tired and also housekeeping needs looking at.No one in reception when you need them and you wait around for ages till some one comes.Best part of this hotel is the food at breakfast and the friendly chef.Would not recommend this hotel..
A very beautiful building with great history... only currently able to accept cash however? Possible tax avoidance or trying to hide actual profit/income for some reason?? Reasonable priced drinks in the bar and clean rooms with tea and coffee facilities...
